Taylor Funeral Service, Inc.
J. Stuart Todd, Architect
Miller Funeral Home, Inc., was acquired by David & Ann G. Taylor in 1977. The name of the firm remained unchanged until 1988. That was the 1st of several changes to come. In 1985, David & Ann purchased the Farmington "Save-A-Lot" Store & began thinking about plans for that building & the families they serve.
In 1985, David obtained his private pilots license. David & Ann took numerous trips across the Midwest to visit funeral homes & see first-hand what different architects would & could do with similar renovation(s).
J. Stuart Todd, renowned Dallas & nationally-recognized Funeral Industry Architect, was flown to Farmington & retained to start the renovation process.
Todd drew the exterior site plans & David drew the interior plans for the new Taylor Funeral Service, Inc. Ann coordinated all interior color/furnishing selection(s).
This was Farmington's first major remodeling/renovation of a funeral facility. The end result was a beautiful, modern facility, handicapped-equipped, offering handicapped parking a short distance from our front door.
ALL work was done by FARMINGTON craftsmen, headed by Tom Sales. Renovation occurred over the summer of 1990, with the 'Open House' held November 1990.
Taylor Funeral Service, Inc., was Honored to have been "featured" in the Nov. 1990 "Southern Funeral Director" magazine, a premier, National, Funeral Industry publications. A copy of that "feature" is framed & on permanent display in our lounge. Our lounge is equipped with: 2 Coffee Pots; Microwave Oven; Color TV; Soda Machine & Refrigerator - to allow families to "make themselves at home" during visitations.
